LUCKY STRIKER 201

LS201 est un groupe français revelé en 2000 dans toute la France par le magazine Hard N'Heavy spécial France n°1, proposant sur la compilation gratuite fournie avec le magazine, le titre A liquid blue-quest extrait de l'album démo Cosmognosis.

Même si le groupe se fait discret quant aux informations relatives à sa formation (fin des années 90), nous pouvons en dire qu'il fut fondé par Caedes entouré de WBR et Sylvicious (ce dernier participant aussi au groupe Tamtrum et en tant que batteur intérimaire de Punish Yourself)

Le groupe propose gratuitement de télécharger leur premier album (complet et artwork inclus) sur leur site web afin de le diffuser un maximum. Comme ils le disent, eux même "la musique est un art, nous n'avons pas réalisé de musique dans le but de la vendre, mais d'en faire partager notre approche".

LS201 is a French band born in 2000 in all France by the magazine "Hard Heavy special France n°1", proposing on the free compilation provided with the magazine, title "A liquid blue-quest" extracts from the demo of the album "Cosmognosis".

Even if the band is done discrete as for information relating to its formation (end of the Nineties), we can say of it that it was founded by Caedes surrounded by WBR and Sylvicious (this last also taking part in the Tamtrum group and as a temporary beater of Punish Yourself)

The Band proposes free to download their first album (complete and artwork included) on their Web site in order to diffuse it a maximum. As they say it, them even "the music is an art, us did not carry out music with an aim of selling it, but of making some share our approach".

Lucky Striker 201 revient avec une nouvelle démo, même influences, un son plus dur, plus sombre, Night Room est une chambre obscure ou la sorcellerie LS201 prend forme, évolue et prend tout son sens. Moins indus, plus gothique, la nouvelle mixture de Lucky Striker 201 surprend. Caedes, Anael, Wax et E.L.Z.B.T.H. ne se sont pas quitté depuis leur intégration au groupe, fondé par Caedes. Enregistré à l'occasion d'un tremplin rock, Night Room a été enregistré en 2 jours et mixé sur 2 jours également. A la recherche d'un label, Lucky Striker 201 a, avec ce Night Room, de sérieuse chances de son côté.
Dôté d'un mixage et d'un mastering beaucoup plus clean, Night Room se détache de Cosmognosis par l'ambiance et les atmosphères de l'édifice musical construit par Caedes et ses musiciens. Ambiances plus sombres, plus feutrées, plus éthérées, rythmes plus lents, Lucky Striker 201 a mis un point d'honneur a prendre soin des arrangements et des ambiances électroniques. On retrouvera sur ce Night Room, "A liquid-blue quest" toujours actuel, à la saveur suave.
"Le reflet de son âme" est l'occasion pour Lucky Striker 201 d'expérimenter de nouvelles dimensions artistiques et sonores, une voix d'outre tombe, une ambiance synthétique toute particulière, qui rappelle Azoth, additionnée d'une voix étrangère aux paroles mystèrieuses, -c'est assez rassurant de vivre au fond de sa cave-. "Burn" coule doucement, une dynamique binaire saturée le prenant dans son élévation, une voix décolorée suinte sur les murs brulants, les afficionados du style ne seront pas déroutés. Un synthé inquiétant, bizarre, aux intentions opaques, une voix qui ondule lentement, mélodique, intense, une batterie qui vient mettre de l'aplomb et apporte un soutien, quand les samples se font entendre c'est une intro magnifique qui se déroule sur "Life's a dream", morceau magnifique qui change d'orientation avec dédain, voix gutturale, voix déchirée, la suite du morceau est un puzzle électro-indus où chaque pièce s'insère en ajoutant un plus à l'ensemble. Cosmognosis, la première démo du groupe, voit le jour en avril 2000, et n'est diffusé qu'en Cd-R. La démo ouvre sur "Ancestral", déjà l'ambiance se met en place, le rythme indus se mélangeant souplement dans ses retranchements. C'est l'influence Das Ich, qui commence mais se fait tuer dans l'oeuf, voix distordu, lyrics torturées. L'influence électro est omniprésente, le goth, mi death, mi indus de Covenant se dessine. Les voix clairs du refrain se mèlent avec passion aux plaintes saturés de la chanson. Et le battement rythmique continue, pour s'étouffer dans un break haché... "A liquid-blue quest", pièce maîtresse du genre continue cette amalgame, cet aliage entre électro et indus, avec des pointes torturées. Légère mélodie à la guitare, à peine étouffée, puis recouvert par cet assemblage clair-obscur, de voix clairs-distordus. Das Ich, The Cure, Covenant, Einztursen Neuebauten, les influences ont été digérées, compactées, mariées avec délicatesse et sensibilité, et Lucky Striker 201 est leur produit. Grosse caisse latente, vent froid, légère augmentation du tempo, beat outrageant, mélodie inflexible, guitare tranchante, voix qui cherche dans le passé, rêves chimériques, cauchemar matinal, "TFH201" c'est tout ça et autre chose à la fois, en 3 minutes à peine, la comparaison souffre à se faire plus précise. Petite intro au clavier, mystérieuse, berceuse, ensorcellante, digne de NIN, soudain rejointe par des montées d'éveil, illustrant à merveille leurs propos. Soudain, changement de décor, guitare et distortion ne font plus qu'un pendant un instant, jusqu'à la symbiose musicale ; puis soudain, nouveau changement pour un piano post-moderne, de nouveau accompagné à l'électro. Mélodie post-tragique près du but, dépeignant tel tableau impérieux, pour finir sur un final apostolique en guise de conclusion de "Saeculum". Pour se réveiller, "S.O.D.", ses rythmiques tranchées, tranchantes, l'ambience est surréaliste, irréelle et martelée. Dans la même lignée fusionnelle que le reste de la démo.

Album téléchargeable intégralement sur le site internet du groupe (comme pour wirksystem) et ne disposant d'aucun support physique à proprement parler, "Music is art. Art is not for sale", le ton est donné, à l'instar de certaines licences Creative Commons, les titres sont gratuits, distribuables mais non modifiables. Après tout, le meilleur moyen de propager sa musique est encore de supprimer les frictions dans les échanges et donc de supprimer supports physiques et rétributions pécuniaires.
Cet opus est intense, prenant à la gorge dès son entrée en matière, "Things are so good" porte son titre avec conviction, Lucky Striker 201 is so good, voix hésitante, haletante, mais guitares assurées et massives, une mélodie simple mais qui tourne à l'obsession, martèlement assassin, montée en puissance orgasmique, les choses prennent une tournure différente sur cet album. Un Skinny Puppy doppé aux hormones, A five senses fist étendu à satiété ou un Alec Empire aspiré dans une spirale moins hardcore, un mur de son ou un barrage de saturation, aidé par une production magnifique, les coups de boutoirs électro-indus du groupe abattent des cloisons d'indifférence et de réticence, pour laisser apparaître des titres blindés, "burnburnburn" et son apparante homogénéité; "Dawn", ses guitares emportées et sa voix calme mettant en place un édificesonore vertigineux.
Melting pot pessismiste, limite nihiliste, -who f*king cares ?-, après un "Insane" concentré et malsain, c'est "K" qui entre en scène, ambiance de film d'horreur japonais, phrasé terminal, ellipses qui s'évanouissent, "K" marquent le pas et embraye avec une guitare accérée, un déluge, un bulldozer digital avançant de front. Cet éponyme de Lucky Striker 201 comportent un nombre impressionnant de pépites sonores, de particules stellaires industrielles, forgées à force de sueur et d'ondes sonores, un album condensé, des titres d'une maturité sonore et d'une assurance musicale impressionante, à ranger très près du mange-disques.
